Modes of operation

Regular mode - the Device broadcasts the motion detection status, illuminance, and battery status each time the motion-detection status changes (motion is detected or no motion is detected during the blind time). You can adjust the blind time from the Device settings in the Shelly Smart Control application. For more details, visit the Shelly Smart Control guide.
Beacon mode - the Device broadcasts the motion detection status, illuminance, and battery status every 30 seconds. You can enable the Beacon mode from the Device settings in the Shelly Smart Control application. For more details, visit the Shelly Smart Control guide.

The battery life may be significantly reduced when the Device is in Beacon mode.

- Press and hold for 10 sec to pair ShellyBLU Motion with another Bluetooth device.
- Press and hold for 30 sec to factory reset (possible only shortly after inserting the battery).
- Double-press to set the Device in test mode. For a minute, the Device will broadcast every motion detection, indicating it by a red flash.

Is it possible to use the device without a hub?

Yes, Shelly devices (except for Wave devices) operate independently without the need for a hub. Some users have reported latency between motion detection and action execution, especially when integrating with platforms like Homey or Home Assistant. To minimize delays: Ensure your Bluetooth gateway (e.g., Shelly Plus/Gen3.Gen4/Pro device) is within close proximity to the sensor. Disable Eco Mode on your gateway devices to maintain constant Bluetooth listening. Adjust the sensor's sensitivity settings to suit your environment. Verify that the firmware of both the sensor and gateway devices is up to date.

Why does my Shelly BLU Motion sensor show as offline in my smart home platform?

If the sensor appears offline: Understand that the device enters sleep mode to conserve battery, which may cause it to appear offline. Ensure that your Bluetooth gateway is functioning correctly and within range. Check for any firmware updates for both the sensor and gateway devices. Note that despite appearing offline, the sensor should still trigger actions upon motion detection.

How can I adjust the motion detection sensitivity?

You can adjust the sensitivity of the Shelly BLU Motion sensor through the Shelly Smart Control app. Navigate to the device settings and select from three sensitivity levels: Low, Medium, or High. This allows you to tailor the sensor's responsiveness to your specific environment.
