FAQ

What are the differences between the different generations of Shelly products?

Each new generation adds more power, memory, and features:

Gen 1 offers basic control;

Gen 2 (Plus Series, Mini Series, Pro Series) adds Bluetooth, scripting, and better security;

Gen 3 improves performance, adds Matter (starting from firmware version 1.6.0 or newer) and advanced monitoring;

Gen 4 offers multi-protocol connectivity, featuring Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Matter.

Can I control the device via Bluetooth?

No, the protocol is used only for device inclusion, allowing for quick and easy setup through the Shelly Smart Control app.

For bluetooth control it is required to have another Bluetooth device such as Shelly BLU Button or Shelly BLU Motion to interact.

Additionally, Shelly devices can function as a BLE gateway, bridging Shelly BLU devices to your Wi-Fi network.

Do I need a gateway to use the device?

Yes, to use this device with the Shelly Smart Control app, a gateway is necessary. Compatible gateways are Shelly BLU Gateway, or alternatively any Shelly Plus, Pro, Gen3 or Gen4 device (excluding sensors) can act as a gateway.

Is it possible to use the device without a hub?

Yes, Shelly devices (except for Wave devices) operate independently without the need for a hub. They connect directly to your Wi-Fi network, and you can control them via the Shelly Smart Control app, web interface, or through integrations with platforms like Google Home, Alexa, Home Assistant and Samsung SmartThings.

What is the function of the Shelly BLU Gateway?

The Shelly BLU Gateway is a Bluetooth to Wi-Fi bridge in a USB-A dongle form factor. It receives Bluetooth signals from Shelly BLU devices and transmits them over Wi-Fi, allowing for seamless integration with the broader Shelly ecosystem and enabling control via the Shelly Smart Control app or other compatible platforms.

How many devices can I pair with the Shelly BLU Gateway?

You can pair up to 5 Shelly BLU TRV devices with the Shelly BLU Gateway. There is currently no specified limit for other Shelly BLU sensors, allowing for flexible expansion of your smart home setup.

Does the Shelly BLU Gateway support MQTT for integration with other platforms?

Yes, the Shelly BLU Gateway supports MQTT, allowing integration with various home automation platforms like Home Assistant. This enables you to create custom automations and control your devices through preferred systems.

Can I use the Shelly BLU Gateway to extend my Wi-Fi range?

While the primary function of the Shelly BLU Gateway is to bridge Bluetooth devices to Wi-Fi, it can also help in extending your Wi-Fi range by being strategically placed within your network. However, it's not a dedicated Wi-Fi range extender, and its effectiveness in this role may vary based on your specific environment.

Shelly BLU Gateway

Unite your smart devices – cloud or locally

Unisci i tuoi dispositivi intelligenti – cloud o locale

Shelly BLU Gateway aiuta a trasmettere il segnale fino a 30 m all’interno e 50 m all’esterno.

Operato tramite Wi-Fi

Collega il Gateway Shelly BLU alla tua rete Wi-Fi! Nessun HUB richiesto!

Bluetooth

Inclusione rapida tramite Bluetooth o utilizzalo come gateway Bluetooth.

Senza fili

Scripting

Invia informazioni localmente ed esegui azioni personalizzate.
