What are the differences between the different generations of Shelly products?

Do I need a gateway to use the device?

Yes, to use this device with the Shelly Smart Control app, a gateway is necessary. Compatible gateways are Shelly BLU Gateway, or alternatively any Shelly Plus, Pro, Gen3 or Gen4 device (excluding sensors) can act as a gateway.

Is it possible to use the device without a hub?

Yes, Shelly devices (except for Wave devices) operate independently without the need for a hub. They connect directly to your Wi-Fi network, and you can control them via the Shelly Smart Control app, web interface, or through integrations with platforms like Google Home, Alexa, Home Assistant and Samsung SmartThings.

Can the device work independent or it requires a gateway?

To use BLU devices with the Shelly Smart Control app, a gateway is necessary. Compatible gateways are Shelly BLU Gateway, or you can also use any Shelly Plus, Pro, Gen3 or Gen4 device to act as a Gateway (excluding sensors).
